The Bills

Just a quick update on the money situation…

I talked to my client and was able to get some of the money. I was also able to talk to someone at the largest client I work for through him, and I know that he’s got way more money for me than he’s letting on. Like, he’s got all of it, and he’s saying he’s got nothing. I would really have preferred him telling me that he spent all my money rather than lie to me about not having received it.

But really, it’s been a good week. I worked the MACPA (Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants) conference thing at the Lansing Center on Tuesday and Thursday. I showed up a late on Wednesday but Dave was really cool about it. I’ll have to start taking some pictures of these shows because they’re really cool.

Toys

If I had the money right now, I’d prolly buy this thing:

HDD divx player

So far this is the only one I’ve found that has VGA output. All you geeks out there are salivating, I know you are. It’s not meant for eating though, so don’t do it.

Bills, Bills, Bills

So, I was totalling up my invoice:check ratio and came up with a deficit of about $6,500. This is bad because I have bills to pay. In a way, I guess it’s also good because it means there’s a good deal of money out there just waiting to be given to me.

As a result of the deficit, I have to give my biggest client an ultimatim involving penalties for paying late. This is a slight issue, since I don’t want to rock the boat, so to speak. What do I do?

My current idea involves increases in my hourly rate on new invoices when I have any outstanding invoices more than a month old. I’m hoping that’s incentive enough. Any comments are appreciated. Thanks.

Saturday

It’s been a pretty crazy week. I went to Ann Arbor twice this week, then Thursday I went to New Haven (north of Lake Saint Claire) but I got back early enough to be called to another job. Then Friday was buy the van day. Today is sleep in and chill out day. Oh, and Andy, KT and I cleaned up the backstage area at Riverview… it took a couple of serious evenings but I think it’s in a much better state now.

Danny, Andy and I are going to Hitchhikers’ Guide to the Galaxy in like an hour. Seems like movies have been really hit and miss lately. Wish us luck.

Population control and the N.R.A.

I heard a PSA on the Impact today for control of population growth in third world coutries.

Charlton Heston

Many of you are familiar with Charlton Heston, the N.R.A. goto guy. Imagine my surprise when he introduced himself at the beginning of a quick shpeal about helping to control population growth. Am I inferring what I think should be inferred here? I hope they can see what they’ve done.

To the point: Is the N.R.A. now going to be more active in the control of population density in other countries?
