I took a couple pictures at Eric and Kristie’s wedding rehearsal tonight. Strangely, the only ones I’m really happy with are these two (in 1024×768, for your desktop inhabiting pleasure)…

Inspiron 700m
If at all possible I want the 700m to be my next laptop (when I replace the two I have right now.)

Geek stuff:
4 lbs
1.6Ghz Pentium M 725
40gb hard drive
512mb RAM
a/b/g wireless
12inch widescreen display
CD-RW/DVD-ROM
Connectors: S-video, VGA, 2 USB, PCMCIA, secure digital, network, modem, firewire
$1390 w/ 1 year warranty
I’m working on one today and it is really an outstanding machine. Just waiting for the drive to finish formatting now… (it’s silly to accept that what a manufacturer thinks you should have is what you should have.) Know that the version of Windows that a manufacturer puts on your machine is slightly defferent (based on their unique specs) than what the generally retailed version is.
That is all.

If Only…
Well, things are getting pretty serious right now. I mean, we chat online for, like, two hours every day so I guess you could say things are gettin’ pretty serious.
/win/bash
I’ve been doing a lot of research on Linux lately and came accross this gem.
Computers are like airconditioners: They stop working properly if you open windows.
and this one…
Win95: A 32-bit patch for a 16-bit GUI shell running on top of an 8-bit operating system written for a 4-bit processor by a 2-bit company who cannot stand 1 bit of competition.
Overall, my studies have shown me that Linux and Windows despite many similarities do not play nicely together.

Hosting
So, I just had a client call up and ask for their money back. It was from something a couple months ago that we’d been trying to schedule time to set up. The $70 that they paid was directly for web hosting service and was money that I had already spent setting up the service. I understand their frustration with not being able to use it, but it’s not like it isn’t there for them to use.
My response was basically the truth, that the money was spent on the service they wanted. That wasn’t reasonable to them, they wanted their money back regardless. I offered to give them all the information I had and transfer ownership of the plan. No good.
I really don’t want to be out seventy bucks, but I have little recourse.

Open Office 1.1.4
I’ve been playing with a software suite called OpenOffice at work a little bit. It’s surprisingly very similar to the Microsoft Office Suite, but with some different enhancements (and it’s free). You can create 3D shapes, export to PDF, there’s a decent drawing program, and everything will save to the common MS Office file types (and it’s free). Worthwhile to check out if you’re trying to figure out whether to pay $200 for Office (because OpenOffice is free).
You can download OpenOffice here. Use the USA-ISC site to download from if you actually want it.
