To Indy and Back

I went to Indianapolis with D/S Events last week and took a few pictures of the event we were working on for CARA Charities. We drove down Tuesday and stayed the night at a ‘La Quinta‘ which seems to be spanish for ‘whatever you want it to mean.’ On Wednesday we unpacked the trucks (two 28ft box trucks full of staging and equipment) and set everything up, there were 14 people including the guys from Merging Media who brought the stage decks and projector gear and Jef from Pizazz Productions who brought the video gear. It took about 13 hours.

Thursday we did a runthrough and made adjustments then had the show. After the show we disasembled and repacked everything. Then headed to the next hotel and went to the RockBottom Brewery, their food was distinct and the beer I tried there was inexpensive and dark but very sweet. It was a good complement to the food, but you couldn’t drink it straight without wishing it was Guinness. At about 1 most of us headed to Nicky Blaine’s Cigar and Martini Bar (whose website is non-existant) then went to the Slippery Noodle for a short while and returned to the hotel. Friday I got up about 9 and had some breakfast then we hit the road back to Michigan. When we got back to the shop we unpacked the truck.

Truck unpacked, truss bolted together, getting it hung in the cieling.

That night, all but the final stages of setup complete. I ran the LED curtain and the circle projection during the show.

Wide shot during the show.

Not sure who they are but they sure look nice with all that staging and equipment around them.

Everybody walking the runway. Nice flare from an LED par light from the left.

The lectern, lit by a couple LED pars and the Borg Warner Trophy in the background.
