Not sure yet about whether these are clever or insulting. There are a couple more of the same style (and some comments) here: www.thinkchristian.net. They were made by Community Christian Church and there are some other videos on their site that clearly have merit, so I am slow to assume that they made these really thinking that so called “Christ-followers” are actually better at being Christ followers than “Christians”.

I am slightly disgusted by this video and the others. First off, what does it matter what we’re called if our actions aren’t backing it up? Second, who’s to say the guy on the left doesn’t love Jesus just as much as the other guy? It almost seems that they are saying that by dressing down and blending in with the culture you are being more Christ-like, which is just bologna. What really matters is the heart. Can’t we all just be ourselves and understand that we have differences? Geesh.

I find the commercials interesting. I think that both sides have merits. It is important to share what we believe and not try to hide or blend in so thoroughly that you cannot tell us apart (the “Christians” in these videos), yet I believe that the way this is done is through mirroring Him in your actions and the way you live your life. The condition of your heart spills over into your actions – not the reverse. I’m guessing that is the message that is suppose to be protrayed here, but I don’t entirely understand why this type of commerical is necessary. Like you said – it almost comes across as “picking” on those that do wear thier faith on thier sleeve.
Thanks for sharing.
