I’ve been at Riv a couple times this week and snapped this shot of the current construction progress:

It will be nice to not have five services every weekend.

And it’s that time again… we’ve been working on the upcoming set at Riv (the PostSecret series):

Teresa has been working like crazy on this set, it has been awesome to have the extra help. Drew stopped by today for a couple hours and worked on the ‘tree’ cutout in the foreground of the pic. Kristie is putting together some superb projection stuff.

It’s been a more involved setup and is therefore more of a time hog, but Tara has been very forgiving. And on the topic of family, here’s a shot of Leah dressed up as a fuzzy pumpkin:

Jim Horn of Horn Heating & Cooling did all the metal work on this set, so I can’t take much credit for the implementation of this one…

What “We” Did: Nine sheets of duct metal bent appropriately and screwed to the wall (with interior supports) and a very nice custom cut logo at the top. The frame from our ‘Gospel According to…’ set was wrapped in metal and a few lights were added on the upstage light bars. Not pictured: Blue and orange detail on white projection (which fit nicely).

This is from a series about two and a half years ago. I remember the planning meeting at Pizza House with Kyle, Steve and Dan like it was just yesterday…

What we did: Two 50 foot lengths of 1/8 inch vinyl-coated cable attached to the floor with eyebolts and run through lighting truss at the ceiling, several boxes of saran wrap, a couple dozen 1ft square mirrors laid on the stage floor and you’ve got yourself the Grand Delusions set.

What we did: Set up 19 Chauvet LED light fixtures on custom pedestals and ran many yards of white 5/8 inch ribbon from all edges of the back wall. The screen is actually half of the white canvas from the Paint a Picture set.

What we did: Lots of finishing nails and a whole bunch of picture frames that Kristie picked up, with a large custom frame around the projection.

What we did: Electrical for the gallery lights, custom frame for the overflow projection and custom frames for the portraits.

New service times, new series, new set.

I don’t know why I always get excited about it, but when we ramp up to do a new set at Riverview, I am lousy with anticipation. I guess I like that the atmosphere is changing and continues to change.
